Nonprofit Orientation with Erin Rodgers Wednesday, May 2, 2012

These sessions are designed to provide information to those interested in forming a tax exempt, nonprofit corporation, covering the basic function and structure of exempt organizations, bookkeeping and tax issues related to exempt organizations, and other pertinent information. There will also be time for questions and answers during the session. Session will be presented by Erin Rodgers, TALA Staff Attorney. This program is free and open to the public. Legal Issues Panel at CentralTrak Dallas Tuesday, May 15, 2012

TALA and CentralTrak present an informative panel featuring three practicing attorneys’ overviews on legal and business issues affecting artists. Andrea Perez of Fears & Nachawati will provide an introduction to TALA and will discuss practical tips gleaned from her representation of artists. Jamie Baker of Thompson Coe will provide information about insurance issues relevant to artists. Lisa Congleton of Haynes Boone will provide an overview of intellectual property issues pertaining to art and artists. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session. Legal Clinic for Entertainment and Arts Professionals Presented in Partnership with Austin Music Foundation, Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Artists and representatives of arts nonprofit organizations will be given time to have a half-hour consultation with a legal professional at Austin Music Foundation’s Creative Media Center. The clinic will provide participants the opportunity to gain valuable legal advice on entertainment and arts related issues. All disciplines are welcome to participate; however, issues must be related to work in the creative fields.
